When it came to selecting an artist to work with on our first ever compilation CD 'Klub Kids 01', the choice was easy. About a year ago the Two Fresh boys did a cool little show up in Brisbane for our mates in the Elektrik Kiss crew. Our artistic senses literally gurned over the artwork and we immediately asked for a referral to the artist dealing such dope work. And we weren't the first. Monaux has already shared his artistic love with the likes of Mooks, Ben Sherman, Target, Billabong, Rip Curl & Lion Nathan. But that's just the beginning of his arty little story...
Monaux - AKA Karl Kwasny (werd up the KK family!) - was born and raised in Melbourne where he learned to avoid dangerous pollens (we wonder if that's what kept him indoors making friends with pens and pencils). He finally made the move to sunny Brisbane where he learnt to avoid, urm, even more dangerous pollens. He has strong feelings towards the 'Bodoni typeface' and his speciality and obsession is in creating 'impromptu lettering styles'. Nice. He's inspired by innocence, religious iconography, sex, death and colour, and when he isn't drawing he's playing guitar with a harmonica strapped to his face (we'll keep you in mind Karl).
We recommend a looksie at the Monaux site, and of course we highly recommend you check out his wonderous intricacies of his artwork in our first ever compilation CD Klub Kids 01. You really gotta buy it though - the web really dosen do it any justice plus there is a bonus double disc mixed by Kid Kenobi that comes free with the artwork! Check out our klubkids.tv shop! It's also available at JB Hi Fi and whatever good indie record stores are still left in Australia. R.I.P.
