Countless accolades, awards, records, and firsts have been the hallmark of Kid Kenobi’s illustrious 13-year DJing career. Indeed it’s an impossible task trying to resist running them off. From being named Australia’s favourite DJ for a record number 3 years (2003 – 2005), to receiving an award for his first ever remix (of Green Velvet’s “La La Land’ ), knocking up over 20 remixes for some of the world’s biggest names in dance, pop and rock, being the first DJ ever to have a CD series named after him by Ministry of Sound, an ARIA nomination for ‘The Bump’ with Hook N Sling, and to having an itinerary that reads like the Lonely Planet guidebook to clubs worldwide Kid Kenobi has just about done it all. It’s almost become a cliché to say that there isn’t much left for him to do. And yet perhaps the Kids greatest triumph of all is his ability to keep on evolving and growing as an artist. Music trends come and go, clubbers retire, scenes change, and awards gather dust but Kid Kenobi, it seems, is here to stay.
But staying on top of your game is not all about 'intention' as the Kid soon realized. It's actually about getting off your ass and making shit happen. With this thought as his guide Jesse finally decided to start putting his money where his mouth was and got busy knocking up some serious hours in the studio (no more 'oh yeah, I did say I was gonna start working more in the studio last interview didn't I' comments for this little fella). It was a time of great transition. Friends and family were replaced with solitude, partying was replaced with the gym, 12pm breakfasts for early morning starts, and a new chapter in the Kids career was born. Indeed out of this transition evolved Two Fresh (a new collaboration with his brother Hugga Thugg), Kosmic Kids (a new outlet for the Kid’s love of deeper sounds), ‘Klub Kids 01’ (the Kids first independent release), as well as Klub Kids itself.
We've said it before and we'll say it again: the future's lookin bright yoll!
