Music has been a part of Hugga Thugg’s life for longer than he can remember. As a kid, weekends meant being carted around in the back of Dads van alongside a drum kit and the sounds of soul, funk and reggae. Needless to say Hugga’s passion for music was cemented from an early age. Enter the 90’s and Hugga’s passion evolved alongside the sounds of New Jack Swing, East Coast hip hop, and early rave. Picking up a single belt drive turntable and a mixer form the local ‘Cash Converters’ at the age of sixteen, Hugga Thugg continued the journey through a culmination of sounds, genres and sub genres - from acid jazz to big beat, trip hop to breaks, and drum and bass to techno - all of which still bare its markings on a Hugga Thugg’s sets today.
2008 saw Hugga Thugg take the long awaited step into production both as a solo artist, and as part of a highly successful duo named Two Fresh with his bro Jesse Desenberg (aka Kid Kenobi). Kicking off with Two Fresh’s debut remix reaching the Aria Top 10, 2009 has proved a successful year for Hugga Thugg. Indeed his production has already found its way into the release schedules of Klub Kids, One Love, Sweat It Out, Passenger, Bam Bam, Yes Yes, Crushed Records, Hydrofunk and Grindn. Bo!
Stay tuned for 2010, it’s gonna be one big year for the hugga!
