We've known Deano for longer than we've been making music - since before we even knew what a DJ was! Needless to say Dean has been our photographer of choice from the very very beginning - indeed since Kid Kenobi needed his first ever press shots. We won't point fun at his age but that was a very long time ago now! Apart from being one of our closest mates Deano is, in our eyes, the best music photographer there is in Australia. And yes, he's the only guy that can say "I want to dress you up like a gay 70s basketballer" then shoot you in the pissing rain on a public court and you'll happily follow his lead.
Beyond his dope ass portraits of unbelieveable music artists such as, er, Kid Kenobi and Hugga Thugg... :) Dean has shot some of the worlds greatest, both for private sittings as well as at their live shows. His wrap sheet of subjects is not only varied but darned impressive we must say: Coldplay, Fake Blood, Kings of Leon, Alicia Keys, Trentemoller, Pink, Freq Nasty, Rhianna, Sinden, Kylie, Pearl Jam, Bliss N Eso.. the list goes on. Its little wonder he is the photographer of choice not only for some of Australia's biggest festivals but also for the MTV Awards, Rolling Stone's cover of the Roskilde Festival, as well as being given the responsibility of Acer Arena's 'inhouse photographer'.
But besides being stupendously talented and a great guy to boot, we just love the way that Dean works his images with strong colours and cool digital effects, more often than not his images look more like an animation or a painting than a photo. He is also good at making our artists look like they've had a good nights sleep and haven't aged a day since he first started working with them... Thanks Deano!
